Queen Elizabeth Park is a long-established caravan and camping site run by the local council on the southern edge of Stonehaven, the harbour town around fifteen miles south of Aberdeen. Pitches sit close to Stonehaven's open-air heated swimming pool and within easy walking distance of the beach, harbour and the town's well-regarded fish and chip shops.
Stonehaven makes an excellent base for exploring this stretch of the Aberdeenshire coast, with the clifftop ruins of Dunnottar Castle a short walk or drive south of the park, and regular trains and buses back into Aberdeen for anyone wanting to see the city without moving the car or tent. The park itself is fairly exposed, in keeping with its seafront position, so sturdy tent pegs and windbreaks are worth bringing even in summer.
Facilities are straightforward rather than luxurious, with electric hook-ups available on touring pitches, a shower and toilet block, and dog walking possible along the nearby coastal path and harbour front. The site suits families drawn by the pool and beach, and touring caravanners using Stonehaven as a stop between Aberdeen and destinations further down the Angus coast.
