Skelwith Fold Caravan Park
Cumbria
5-star touring and glamping park in 130 acres of woodland, three miles from Ambleside
About Skelwith Fold Caravan Park
Skelwith Fold Caravan Park occupies 130 acres of former parkland woodland close to the hamlet of Skelwith Bridge, a ten-minute drive from Ambleside and roughly the same from Lake Windermere. Established across the grounds of a former country house, the park has grown into one of the largest and best-regarded touring sites in this part of the Lake District, holding a 5-star rating and set among mature trees that give most pitches a genuinely secluded feel rather than the open-field arrangement common at smaller sites.
Touring pitches for caravans and motorhomes come with electric hook-up as standard, and the park also offers glamping pods and safari tents for anyone without their own equipment, alongside static holiday homes available to buy. Shower and toilet facilities are kept to a high standard throughout the season, and an on-site shop covers essentials without needing a drive into Ambleside. Dogs are welcome across the touring areas, and the park's woodland paths and lakeside proximity make it a popular base for cyclists as well as walkers.
The park's setting close to Skelwith Bridge puts Loughrigg Fell, the Langdale valleys and Windermere's western shore all within easy reach, while Ambleside itself is a short and manageable drive for shopping, restaurants and the steamer pier at Waterhead.
