Five-star family park above Lligwy Bay with direct beach access
Tyddyn Isaf is a long-established, family-run park on the north-east coast of Anglesey, laid out on ground that slopes gently down towards Lligwy Bay. A private path leads from the site directly onto Lligwy beach, which is one of the better family beaches on the island: sandy, sheltered and backed by low dunes. A good proportion of the pitches have sea views, and those are the ones that go first.
The park holds a five-star grading and AA five gold pennants, and has previously been named AA Campsite of the Year. Pitches range from standard grass to premium all-weather hardstandings with 16-amp electric hook-up, water and grey waste drainage on the pitch itself, which makes a real difference for longer stays in variable weather. Tents, touring caravans and motorhomes are all catered for. On site there is a shop, a licensed coffee shop, a takeaway food service, a laundry, a gym and a small business centre, and the amenity blocks have won a Platinum Loo of the Year award, which sounds like a joke but does tell you something about the standard.
The surroundings are quiet farmland and coast rather than resort, though Moelfre with its lifeboat station and pubs is a couple of miles away, and Benllech has a bigger beach and more shops just to the south. The Anglesey Coastal Path runs past the site, and the Din Lligwy hut group and burial chamber are a short walk inland. Dogs are welcome. The park opens for the main season from spring to the end of October and gets very busy in the school holidays, so book sea-view pitches several months ahead.
