The Ship and Anchor Marina
West Sussex
Riverside campsite and marina beside the River Arun at Ford, three miles from Arundel
About The Ship and Anchor Marina
The Ship and Anchor Marina sits on the banks of the River Arun at Ford, a few miles south of Arundel between the town and Littlehampton, built around a licensed pub and marina that has traded on this spot since 1664. The 12-acre grassy site takes tents, caravans, motorhomes and campervans across around 190 pitches, with hardstanding available for touring units and a genuinely riverside setting that few campsites in this part of Sussex can match.
Facilities include showers and toilets, a disabled toilet and wash basin, a washing-up area and chemical toilet disposal point, along with a campsite shop selling groceries, gas and camping essentials. Electric hook-up is available on selected pitches, and a children's play area sits alongside cycle hire and repair, a boat slipway and kayak hire, making the most of the site's position directly on the water. The on-site pub serves food from breakfast through to late evening and offers wifi, though this does not extend across the camping fields themselves. Dogs are welcome on leads throughout the site.
The site operates from March to October and sits within walking distance of Ford railway station, with Arundel itself a short drive or cycle away along the river. Its riverside position makes it a natural base for anglers, paddlers and cyclists as well as anyone wanting an easy, low-cost stay close to the castle and cathedral without needing to book into the town centre itself.
