Bath Chew Valley Caravan Park sits at Bishop Sutton, in the Chew Valley south-west of Bath, and has built its reputation on being resolutely adults-only. There are around 45 hard-standing pitches set among lawns, shrubs and planted beds, and the layout is deliberately generous, so units are not crammed together. It is the sort of park where the grass is cut, the borders are kept and the atmosphere is quiet, which suits couples and older tourers and rules it out entirely for anyone travelling with children.

Facilities are a clear step above the average small site. The heated toilet and shower block is finished to a high standard, there is a laundry with service washes available, a lending library, wi-fi and a small tourist information point. A dog walking area has been established around a young patch of woodland on the edge of the park, and dogs are welcome on pitches. There is no shop on site, but reception carries basic camping essentials and Calor gas, and the village pub and local shop are around 250 yards away.

The location works as a base for two different sorts of trip. Bath is a short drive to the north-east, close enough for a full day in the city, while Chew Valley Lake, the Mendip Hills, Wells and Cheddar Gorge are all within easy reach to the south. The park is open all year, which makes it useful for a winter stay when much of the region shuts down, and a two-night minimum applies. Prices start from around 33 pounds a night for two people. Book ahead for summer and bank holidays, as the small pitch count fills quickly.
