Kings Forest Caravan and Camping Park
Suffolk
Adults-only touring park on the edge of King's Forest, 5 miles from Bury St Edmunds
About Kings Forest Caravan and Camping Park
Kings Forest Caravan and Camping Park sits at Wideham Farm in West Stow, right on the edge of King's Forest and directly opposite West Stow Country Park and its reconstructed Anglo-Saxon village. It is an adults-only site, open from April to the end of October, and is built around level grass and free-draining sandy pitches split between electric hook-up and non-electric areas, along with a small collection of glamping pods for those without their own tent or van.
The appeal here is straightforward: immediate access to miles of forest walking and cycling trails through King's Forest, a genuinely quiet adult atmosphere with no under-18s permitted, and enough facilities to be comfortable without tipping into a resort feel. There is a shower and toilet block, a pot-wash area for washing up, and even a dog wash station, with dogs welcome on lead and no charge for bringing them. Wi-fi is available, though signal in this rural pocket of west Suffolk can be patchy.
Bury St Edmunds is about five miles away and Newmarket around ten minutes further, making the site a workable base for both towns as well as for exploring the forest itself. Booking is via the site's own online system, and given the adults-only policy and limited pitch numbers, advance booking is worth doing for weekends throughout the season. The forest setting also means good stargazing away from town light pollution, and the site's position opposite West Stow Country Park makes it an easy stop for anyone combining a camping trip with the reconstructed Anglo-Saxon village next door.
