The Angel Hotel has stood on Angel Hill since 1452, directly facing the Abbey Gate and the Abbey Gardens in the heart of Bury St Edmunds, and remains one of the town's best-known buildings. A significant refurbishment completed in 2019 brought its 77 individually designed bedrooms up to a contemporary standard while keeping the historic bones of the building, including the twelfth-century vaulted cellars beneath the hotel, now used for dining and private events.

Food and drink runs through the hotel's identity, with The Eaterie serving seasonal British dishes using Suffolk ingredients, a dedicated bar for something more relaxed, and the atmospheric Underground Vaults available for private dining and events. The hotel's position on Angel Hill puts almost everything in the town centre within easy walking distance, from the Cathedral and Moyse's Hall Museum to the Theatre Royal.
