Braemar Caravan Park is run by the Invercauld Estate on the edge of one of the highest villages in Britain, with open views to the surrounding hills of the Cairngorms National Park. It is one of very few parks in the area to stay open for eleven months of the year, which makes it a rare option for winter tourers heading to the Glenshee slopes and for walkers who want a base in the shoulder seasons.
The park takes touring caravans, campervans and motorhomes, and has a dedicated area for tents. Alongside the pitches it offers Fog Pod cabins for anyone wanting a solid roof and a heater rather than canvas at altitude, which is a sensible option given how cold Braemar nights can be even in summer. The estate has planning consent for a substantial expansion and work has been under way in an adjacent field through 2026, so it is worth confirming layout and availability when you book.
Braemar itself is the main draw. The Linn of Dee and the tracks into the Lairig Ghru and Glen Tilt are a short drive west, Lochnagar and Glen Muick lie to the east, and the National Trust for Scotland's Mar Lodge Estate offers some of the finest low-level walking in the park. The village has a shop, a handful of cafes and pubs, a community-run castle and, on the first Saturday of September, the Braemar Gathering, for which the park books out well in advance. Golf and skiing at Glenshee are both within easy reach.
