Muckrach Country House

Dulnain Bridge, Strathspey · Hotel

Restored Victorian shooting lodge near Grantown-on-Spey with eleven en-suite bedrooms, taken by the night or hired exclusively for up to 22 guests.

About Muckrach Country House

Muckrach Country House stands in its own grounds at Dulnain Bridge, between Grantown-on-Spey and Carrbridge, in the quieter northern part of Strathspey. Built as a Victorian shooting lodge, it has been restored and reopened as a Highland house that takes bookings both by the night and for exclusive private hire, sleeping up to 22 across the property.

The eleven bedrooms are all en-suite and generously proportioned, in keeping with the original scale of the house. Downstairs the public rooms are the point of the place: a drawing room with a grand piano, a library, a bar and a cinema room, plus a domestic kitchen with an optional commercial kitchen for groups who want to bring in their own catering. That flexibility makes it a natural choice for family gatherings, shooting and fishing parties and small weddings, as well as for couples simply wanting a comfortable base.

The setting is well placed for both halves of Speyside. Grantown-on-Spey and its salmon beats are a few minutes north, Aviemore and the Cairngorm ski road around twenty minutes south, and the Speyside distilleries an easy run to the north-east. Loch Garten, Abernethy Forest and the Strathspey Railway at Boat of Garten are all close, and the surrounding pinewood offers some of the best low-level walking and cycling in the national park.
