About Highfield Farm Touring Park
Highfield Farm sits on Long Road at Comberton, five miles west of Cambridge and a couple of minutes from the A428, on land that was a working arable farm before the Chesterton family turned part of it over to touring pitches. The park covers around eight acres of gently undulating ground, landscaped over the years with conifers, hedging and mature trees so that the 120 pitches are broken into sheltered bays rather than laid out in one open field. Twenty thousand daffodils come up across the site each spring, which tells you something about how carefully it is looked after.
Pitches take caravans, motorhomes, trailer tents and tents of all sizes, with 10-amp electric hook-ups available throughout and a separate area for hikers and cyclists arriving on foot or by bike. Four modern toilet and shower blocks provide constant hot water, and there is a well-equipped launderette with sinks for hand washing. Reception incorporates a small shop selling newspapers, basic provisions, Calor Gas and Camping Gaz along with a range of camping accessories, and there is a dog exercise area for the two dogs each pitch is allowed to bring.
The location works well for a Cambridge stay without the cost of a city hotel. The Madingley Road park and ride is a short drive away, buses run from the village, and the flat lanes make cycling in a realistic option for anyone reasonably fit. Comberton has a village pub and shop, the Wimpole Estate and the American Cemetery at Madingley are both close, and Ely, Newmarket and the Imperial War Museum at Duxford are all inside half an hour. The park holds Premier Park and AA accreditation for 2026, and a non-refundable deposit is required at booking.
