About Quiet Waters Caravan Park
Quiet Waters is a small family-run park on the bank of the Great Ouse at Hemingford Abbots, one of the prettiest villages in the county, roughly fifteen miles west of Cambridge and a couple of miles from Huntingdon. The scale is the appeal: twenty touring pitches, eighteen of them hardstanding, arranged on flat riverside ground with a further nine static holiday caravans available to hire. It is a place for people who want quiet water and birdsong rather than entertainment programmes.
All touring pitches have electric hook-up available, and the toilet and shower block is kept to a notably high standard, with showers included in the pitch fee rather than charged by the coin. There is a laundry, dishwashing facilities and a chemical disposal point, and wireless internet reaches the pitches. Dogs are welcome for a nightly charge, and awnings are charged separately. The park opens from the beginning of April to the end of October.
Fishing on the river is available from the park, and the Great Ouse here is good for boating, with the Ouse Valley Way footpath running past the gate towards Hemingford Grey and the twelfth-century manor house that inspired Lucy Boston's Green Knowe books. The village has a thatched pub, and Houghton Mill, St Ives and Grafham Water are all within a short drive. For Cambridge, the A14 runs directly east, or you can pick up the guided busway at St Ives and travel in without driving. Static caravans sleep six, with a maximum of four adults.
