About Homing Park
Homing Park lies at Seasalter, on the flat coastal strip just west of Whitstable and roughly fifteen minutes by road from Canterbury. Established in 1953 and still family run, it traded for many years as Keat Farm and has the settled, well-tended feel of a park that has had the same hands on it for a long time. The beach is a short walk away across the sea wall, and the outlook is open Thames Estuary rather than downland - bracing in spring, glorious on a still summer evening, and a reliable spot for sunsets over the water.
Facilities are more extensive than most sites in the area. There is an outdoor heated swimming pool, a tennis court, a clubhouse, children's play equipment and a ball games area, plus a laundrette, wi-fi and a shop for essentials. Touring pitches take tents, caravans and motorhomes with electric hook-ups, and camping pods are available for anyone who would rather not put up a tent. Dogs are welcome. Privately owned holiday homes also stand on the park, which gives it a settled residential character alongside the touring fields.
It works particularly well as a two-centre base. Whitstable, with its oyster beds, harbour fish stalls and shingle beach, is a couple of miles east along the coast path, and Faversham with its Shepherd Neame brewery is a similar distance west. Canterbury is a straightforward drive or bus ride inland for the cathedral and the city walls. Being a coastal site near a popular town, it books up heavily through July and August and over bank holidays; late May, June and September are the better bets for both space and price.
