Acorn sits on Rosedew Farm about a mile outside Llantwit Major and the same again from the beach, on the stretch of limestone cliff and shingle that Wales markets as its Heritage Coast. The drive into Cardiff takes roughly half an hour along the B4265 and A48, which makes it a workable base for people who want the city by day and open country at night. The Wales Coast Path is close enough to walk to, and the ruined castle at Ogmore and the dunes at Merthyr Mawr are within easy reach.
The park runs to around seventy-eight pitches across a series of hedged, level fields, with a handful of all-weather gravel hardstandings for larger caravans and motorhomes and plenty of grass for tents. Electric hook-ups are available on most pitches. There is a heated shower and toilet block, a laundry, a small shop stocking camping essentials and ice creams, and a children's play park. The on-site café is licensed, open daily and dog-friendly, which is a genuine advantage when the weather turns. Shepherd's huts on the same farm give a glamping option for those who would rather not pitch.
Dogs are welcome throughout and the surrounding farm lanes make good short walks. The site is family-focused and quiet rather than lively, with an emphasis on tidy facilities and a settled atmosphere. Book ahead for the school holidays and for bank holiday weekends, when the coastal Vale fills quickly. Llantwit Major has a railway station with a direct service into Cardiff Central, so a car is not strictly essential once you have arrived.
