Ellenborough Park
Southam, at the foot of Cleeve Hill · Hotel
A Tudor and Cotswold-stone manor house set in parkland beside Cheltenham Racecourse, with a spa, pool and formal gardens.
About Ellenborough Park
Ellenborough Park occupies a Grade I and II listed manor house at the foot of Cleeve Hill, its oldest wings dating back to the fifteenth century and its grounds looking directly across to Cheltenham Racecourse next door. The building has been restored as a country house hotel with panelled halls, mullioned windows and log fires alongside modern additions in the gardens and spa wing.
Bedrooms are split between the historic manor and a newer courtyard building, ranging from cosy doubles to family suites with roll-top baths, and many rooms look out over the racecourse or the surrounding parkland. The spa includes an indoor pool, outdoor hot tubs and treatment rooms, while the estate's grounds run to croquet lawns, a kitchen garden and views up to Cleeve Hill.
The hotel's restaurant serves modern British food drawing on the kitchen garden and local Cotswold produce, and its position beside the racecourse makes it a natural choice during the Cheltenham Festival, when rooms are booked many months in advance. Its rural, country-house setting sits only a short drive from central Cheltenham.
