Chester Fairoaks Club Campsite

Cheshire

Year-round hardstanding club site off the M53, four miles north of Chester

About Chester Fairoaks Club Campsite

Chester Fairoaks is the Caravan and Motorhome Club's site for the city, at Rake Lane in Little Stanney, roughly four miles north of the centre and immediately off the M53. It is a level, open site bordered by mature oaks, with ninety-six touring pitches of which eighty-nine are hardstanding, all with sixteen-amp electric hook-up. Maximum outfit length is 11.6 metres and the earliest arrival time is one o'clock.

The location is the practical draw. Chester is a short drive or bus ride away, Chester Zoo is barely ten minutes north, and the Cheshire Oaks outlet centre at Ellesmere Port is closer still. The A55 and the Welsh border are within easy reach, so the site works well as a staging post for anyone heading on into North Wales rather than only as a base for the city. The Shropshire Union Canal runs about a mile away and gives good flat walking and cycling, and there are two pubs and shops within a short walk of the entrance.

As a club site the facilities are consistent and well maintained: heated toilet and shower blocks, a disabled shower room, a family washroom, laundry facilities, a motorhome service point, wifi and a children's playground. Dogs are welcome and there is a dedicated dog walking area. Gas and charcoal barbecues are permitted. The site is open all year, which is unusual around Chester and makes it one of the few reliable options for a winter visit or a Christmas market trip. Non-members can book, though members pay less and children's rates are heavily discounted.
