Black Rock Sands Touring and Camping Park

Gwynedd

Twelve-acre grass touring park tucked behind the dunes of Black Rock Sands beach

About Black Rock Sands Touring and Camping Park

This twelve-acre, all-grass touring park sits directly behind the dunes at Black Rock Sands, one of the largest and most popular beaches on this stretch of coast, roughly four miles from Criccieth at Morfa Bychan near Porthmadog. Its position right behind the sand is the main draw: the beach itself is famous for allowing cars to drive onto it at low tide, and it is a five-minute walk from the pitches at any state of the tide.

The park is open to touring caravans, motorhomes and tents, with unmetered hot showers, a toilet block, a disabled wet room, a dishwashing area and a coin-operated launderette among the facilities, plus a children's playground. It keeps a simple, no-frills character, with generators banned and quiet hours enforced overnight, which suits campers who want a straightforward pitch close to the sand rather than an activity-heavy holiday park.

From the site it is a short drive into Porthmadog for shops, the Ffestiniog Railway terminus and a wider choice of restaurants, and Criccieth itself is easily reached along the coast road. Snowdonia rises inland within a similarly short drive, making this a practical, beach-focused base for a Llŷn Peninsula camping holiday.
