The Lion Hotel stands on The Green in the centre of Criccieth, making it the most central of the town's hotels, with the castle, both beaches and the shops all within a few minutes' walk. The main hotel has 33 en-suite rooms, many with views across Cardigan Bay towards Snowdonia, in a mix of single, twin, double and family configurations.

Alongside the hotel rooms, six studio apartments occupy the separate Castle View Cottage, facing south towards Criccieth Castle and each equipped with dining space and limited cooking facilities, useful for longer stays or guests wanting more independence than a standard hotel room. The hotel has its own bar and restaurant serving meals to residents and non-residents.

Its central position and long-standing local reputation make it a practical base for visitors without a car, with the railway station and seafront both an easy walk away, and Portmeirion and Snowdonia within reach for day trips.
