The Ship in Dock Inn

Ridge Hill, edge of the old town · Inn

One of Dartmouth's oldest inns, trading since 1656, with king-size en-suite rooms above a well-stocked bar overlooking Coronation Park.

About The Ship in Dock Inn

The Ship in Dock Inn has occupied the same spot on the edge of Dartmouth's old town since 1656, and describes itself, not inaccurately, as the little pub with the big welcome. It sits above Coronation Park with views over the park and out towards the river, a quieter position than the busiest parts of the waterfront while still being a short walk from the Boat Float.

All of the guest rooms are king-size doubles with en-suite bathrooms, and the higher rooms make the most of the view over the park and river. The ground-floor bar carries an unusually wide range of spirits, wines and draught beers, including a strong selection of low and no-alcohol options, and a full cooked breakfast is included for residents each morning.

Its history and modest room count give it a proper pub-inn character rather than a corporate hotel feel, and its position just outside the busiest lanes makes for a calmer overnight stay without losing walking access to the town.
