Large all-facilities park near Dawlish Warren with pools, fishing lakes and a pub
Cofton Holidays sits in a wooded valley a mile or so inland from Dawlish Warren on the Exe estuary, spread across a large site with a mix of grass and hardstanding pitches, super pitches with individual services, glamping units and static caravans. The scale is the main thing to understand: this is a full holiday park rather than a quiet field, and it is aimed squarely at families who want plenty on site.
Facilities are extensive. There is an indoor pool with massage jets and hydrotherapy loungers, plus a sauna, steam room and gym, and a separate heated outdoor pool with a children's pool for the summer months. Eating and drinking is covered by the Swan pub, a cafe, a restaurant and a fish and chip takeaway, and there is an arcade with pool and bowling, two children's play areas, a woodland adventure play area and nature trails. Five coarse fishing lakes sit within the grounds, and there is a licensed shop on site. Toilet and shower blocks are modern, with washing-up areas and family and accessible washrooms.
As a base it is well placed. Dawlish Warren's sandy beach and nature reserve are within walking distance, the sea wall railway walk to Dawlish is nearby, and Exeter is around twenty minutes by car or train. Dartmoor's eastern edge is roughly forty minutes away, which makes day trips to Haytor and Widecombe straightforward. Pitch prices start from around 22 pounds a night for two, rising substantially in the school holidays, and minimum stays apply in peak weeks. Dogs are welcome on most pitches. Book early for August, when the park is usually full.
