Clifftop pitches on the Lulworth Estate, minutes from the arch itself
Durdle Door Holiday Park sits on high ground on the Lulworth Estate above the arch that gives it its name, between Weymouth and Swanage on one of the most photographed stretches of the Jurassic Coast. The setting is the whole point: you are within a short walk of Durdle Door beach and about twenty minutes on foot from Lulworth Cove, with the South West Coast Path running along the cliff edge below the site. Pitches occupy open downland with very little natural shelter, so this is a place to bring solid pegs and to pitch with the wind in mind.
The camping areas are separate from the static caravan and lodge sections. The Rookery tent pitches take a small tent and one car, with a maximum of six people per pitch, and there are grass and hardstanding options for touring caravans and motorhomes with electric hook-up available. Facilities blocks have been rebuilt in recent years and include accessible showers and toilets and a washing-up area with USB charging points. There is a shop on site, a takeaway and a bar and restaurant, plus a heated outdoor pool in season and a play area for younger children.
Book early. This is one of the most in-demand campsites in southern England and summer weekends go months ahead, with prices reflecting that. Dogs are welcome on the touring pitches. The main practical caution is the terrain: the walk down to Durdle Door beach is steep and stepped, and the return climb is hard work carrying beach gear or small children. The site is open from spring to autumn rather than year-round, and it is worth checking whether the Lulworth firing ranges to the east are active if you plan to walk that direction.
