Abbots Brae occupies a Victorian villa set into a wooded hillside above Dunoon's West Bay, a mile from the town centre but a world away from its seafront bustle. The house was built in 1843 and has been run for many years as a small, personally managed hotel rather than a large-scale operation, with only eight bedrooms, each named after a place on the Cowal Peninsula and decorated in its own style.
