Argyll Hotel

Seafront, West Bay, central Dunoon · Hotel

A shorefront hotel dating from 1837 with panoramic Firth of Clyde views, a Scottish restaurant and an Italian restaurant on site.

About Argyll Hotel

The Argyll Hotel has stood on Dunoon's seafront since 1837, making it one of the town's oldest hotels, and its position on the West Bay shore gives most of its 33 rooms panoramic views across the Firth of Clyde towards Gourock and the Cloch lighthouse. It is one of the largest hotels in the town centre and sits within easy walking distance of the pier, the museum and Castle Hill.

The hotel runs two restaurants under one roof, one serving Scottish dishes and the other Italian, along with function rooms used for weddings, meetings and themed events such as murder mystery weekends. That range of facilities makes it a popular choice for groups and coach parties as well as independent travellers, and its central seafront position means guests can leave the car and walk to almost everything Dunoon town centre has to offer.

As part of a small Scottish hotel group that also operates properties in Oban and Fort William, the Argyll benefits from a level of investment in its public rooms and dining that smaller independent guest houses in the town cannot always match, while retaining the traditional, slightly old-fashioned character of a long-standing seaside hotel.
