The Royal Marine Hotel stands at Hunters Quay, on the seafront a couple of miles north of Dunoon's town centre and close to the Western Ferries car crossing. Built in 1856 as the Marine Hotel, it was rebuilt in its present Tudor-revival style after an 1888 fire, to a design commissioned by the Royal Clyde Yacht Club, and the building remains listed for its architectural and yachting history.

Rooms range from compact singles to premier sea-view options overlooking the Firth of Clyde, with breakfast included throughout, and the hotel's Kintyre Bar and Restaurant serves food daily from midday, popular with both residents and passing walkers on the Cowal Way, which runs close by. The hotel's history as a yacht club social hub is still visible in its public rooms, and its position by the water gives most guests a sea view without needing to pay a premium for it.

Hunters Quay's position right by the Western Ferries terminal makes the Royal Marine a practical choice for anyone arriving by car from Gourock, while its two miles of coastal road into Dunoon town centre are an easy walk or short drive for the shops, museum and passenger ferry pier.
