Recently rebuilt club site at Silverknowes, minutes from the Forth shore
This Caravan and Motorhome Club site sits on Marine Drive at Silverknowes, on the northern edge of Edinburgh where the city meets the Firth of Forth. The promenade and shoreline path are a couple of minutes' walk away, giving views across the water to Fife, and Cramond village with its causeway to Cramond Island is a pleasant stroll west along the coast. The city centre is around four miles south with regular buses from the main road.
The site has been substantially rebuilt in recent years and the facilities are now among the better ones in the Club network. Two heated toilet blocks provide washbasins in cubicles, hairdryers, an accessible en-suite room and a baby and toddler room with child-sized fittings. Each block includes dishwashing and food preparation areas and a laundry, and there is a separate drying room, which earns its keep in a Scottish spring. A motorhome service point, chemical disposal, and a cycle and dog wash round out the practical side.
Pitches are level and largely hardstanding, with a good number of fully serviced options carrying electricity, water and drainage. Barbecues are allowed, gas and basic groceries including milk, bread and newspapers are sold at reception, and there is a fenced play area, a boules court and a dog walk through natural woodland. It suits caravanners and motorhome owners more than tent campers, and families appreciate the flat ground and the safe run to the seafront. As with everywhere in the city, August books out early.
