The Ship Inn is Fowey's oldest pub, built around 1570 by the Elizabethan adventurer John Rashleigh and still occupying its original Grade II* listed building in Trafalgar Square, in the heart of the town. The bar retains genuine period character, including Killas stone walls and a fireplace with a carved bust of Rashleigh above it.
Upstairs, the inn's bedrooms are comfortable and traditionally furnished rather than boutique, with flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi and breakfast included, priced well below the town's grander hotels. Downstairs, the bar serves as a genuine local as well as a visitors' pub, with real ale from Cornish brewers and a straightforward pub food menu.
