The Sanctuary Cornwall
Golant, woodland above the Fowey Estuary · B&B
An award-winning off-grid eco lodge above the village of Golant, with four en-suite rooms and estuary views, a short drive upstream from Fowey.
About The Sanctuary Cornwall
The Sanctuary sits high above the village of Golant, on twelve acres of woodland, pasture and permaculture gardens overlooking the protected upper reaches of the Fowey Estuary, around two miles upstream from Fowey itself. It is run as an off-grid eco lodge, generating its own power and drawing heavily on the surrounding land, though the standard of comfort inside belies that self-sufficiency.
Four individually styled en-suite bedrooms make up the main house, each with estuary views and its own terrace, alongside a separate off-grid pod for guests wanting to be closer to the woodland itself. Breakfast draws on the property's own gardens and local producers, and the site backs onto direct access for kayaking, paddleboarding and the South West Coast Path.
It suits visitors keen on a quieter, more nature-focused stay than a hotel in Fowey itself can offer, with the trade-off of a short drive or riverside walk into town for dinner; the setting and the sense of being genuinely away from it all are the main draw, and the lodge operates seasonally between April and November.
