Lomond Woods Holiday Park

West Dunbartonshire

Loch Lomond park at Balloch, seventeen miles from Glasgow with lodges, pods and touring pitches

About Lomond Woods Holiday Park

Lomond Woods sits at Balloch at the southern tip of Loch Lomond, roughly seventeen miles north-west of Glasgow and just inside the national park boundary. It is a little further out than the two closest options to the city, but it earns the extra twenty minutes: the loch shore, the boat trips from Balloch pier and the start of several Trossachs walks are all within a short stroll of the gate.

The park is run by Wood Leisure and takes touring caravans, motorhomes and tents on serviced pitches, with glamping pods and a range of lodges, some with hot tubs, for anyone who would rather not sleep on the ground. Facilities include electric hookups, heated washrooms, laundry, EV charging, free wi-fi for light use and a games room, with play areas for children and designated dog-walking ground. The park stays open year-round, which makes it one of the more reliable winter options in the area.

Balloch has a railway station a few minutes away with direct trains to Glasgow Queen Street in around forty-five minutes, so a car is useful but not essential. Supermarkets, cafes and pubs are in the village, and Loch Lomond Shores with its aquarium and viewpoint is close by. From here you can spend one day in the city and the next on the water or up Conic Hill, which is a strong argument for basing yourself at this end of the drive rather than in the suburbs.
