About Strathclyde Country Park Club Campsite
Strathclyde Country Park spreads across roughly a thousand acres of the Clyde Valley between Motherwell and Hamilton, and the Caravan and Motorhome Club site sits inside it, close to the shore of Strathclyde Loch. It is about twelve miles south-east of Glasgow city centre, with the M74 a couple of minutes away and Motherwell station a short drive for anyone who would rather take the train in.
Pitches are level and well drained, with hardstandings and electric hookups across most of the site, and the heated amenity block covers showers, washing-up and laundry. Wi-fi is available, dogs are welcome, and there is a small shop at reception for essentials. The real draw is what surrounds it: the loch hosts rowing and watersports and has a path all the way round, there are woodland trails, wetland bird hides and the excavated remains of a Roman bathhouse, and the M&D's amusement park sits at the northern end for anyone travelling with children who need a change from museums.
The location works well for splitting your time. Glasgow is a twenty-minute drive or half an hour by train, New Lanark and the Falls of Clyde are around forty minutes south, and the Ayrshire coast is under an hour west. Being a club site, standards are consistent and the wardening is attentive, but the trade-off is that it books out early for bank holidays and summer weekends. Non-members can stay, though members pay less.
