About Pitton Cross Caravan & Camping Park
Pitton Cross sits on the high ground between Rhossili and Port Eynon at the far western end of Gower, close enough to walk to Mewslade Bay and Fall Bay through the fields and about a mile from the top of Rhossili Down. It is a working farm site run by the same family for many years, with flat grass pitches laid out in hedged paddocks that take the edge off the Atlantic wind.
The park takes tents, caravans, trailer tents, folding campers and motorhomes up to ten metres, on grass or hardstanding, with ten-amp electric hookups available. It is one of the few Gower sites open all year, which makes it the obvious choice for autumn surf trips and winter walking weekends. Facilities include heated shower and toilet blocks, free WiFi across the site, an electric vehicle charging point and a genuinely well-stocked shop selling groceries, camping bits, fishing bait, kites and gifts.
There is a children's play area and a disc golf course laid out across the fields, plus a dedicated dog exercise area alongside designated dog-free zones for anyone who would rather camp away from them. The nearby coast is a paragliding and kite-flying centre thanks to the reliable onshore wind. Rhossili village, the National Trust shop and the Worm's Head causeway are a short drive or a decent walk away. Because it sits high and open, Pitton Cross catches the weather from both directions, so choose a hedged pitch and peg down properly if there is any wind in the forecast. In return you get some of the darkest skies on the peninsula and sunsets straight into the Atlantic. Port Eynon, with its Blue Flag beach, pubs and chip shop, is a couple of miles east.
