Camping in the Forest, Alice Holt

Forestry England woodland camping on the Surrey-Hampshire border, around twelve miles from Guildford
About Camping in the Forest, Alice Holt
Set within Alice Holt Forest, a working Forestry England woodland straddling the Surrey and Hampshire border, this site is run through the Camping in the Forest partnership and offers pitches for tents and a smaller number of touring caravan and motorhome spaces among the trees. It lies roughly twelve miles southwest of Guildford, reached via the A31, and shares its access roads with the forest's popular walking and cycling trails.
The woodland setting is one of tall pine and broadleaf trees on sandy, free-draining soil, which keeps pitches usable even after rain, and the site benefits directly from the forest's network of way-marked trails and the Alice Holt visitor centre with its café and bike hire. It is a particularly good option for families, with space for children to explore safely within the forest environment and a playground on site, and dogs are welcome on leads throughout the campsite and surrounding forest.
Being forest-based rather than farmland or parkland, the atmosphere is noticeably more wooded and secluded than sites closer to Guildford itself, and it works well either as a standalone woodland break or as a base for day trips into Guildford, Farnham or further into Hampshire, with electric hook-up and shower blocks available for those wanting more than the most basic facilities.
