Poston Mill sits in the Golden Valley near Peterchurch, roughly twelve miles southwest of Hereford towards the Welsh border, on the site of a former corn mill beside the River Dore. A short drive brings visitors back into Hereford for the cathedral and city sights, while Hay-on-Wye is easily reached in the other direction, making Poston Mill a workable base for a longer countryside stay rather than just a single overnight stop.
