Moat Barn Touring Caravan Park
Suffolk
Adults-only rural touring park near Woodbridge, around ten miles from Ipswich
About Moat Barn Touring Caravan Park
Moat Barn Touring Caravan Park occupies a quiet corner of countryside at Bredfield, a small village a couple of miles from Woodbridge and around ten miles from Ipswich. Opened in 2000 by the Allen family, it remains a small, adults-only site rather than a large holiday park, and its position on both the Suffolk Heritage Cycle Route and the Hull to Harwich National Cycle Route makes it a popular stop for cyclists passing through the county.
The park has thirty-four level grass pitches, all with ten-amp electric hook-ups, along with a toilet and shower block on site. Free WiFi is available across the park, and bicycle hire can be arranged directly with the owners, who live on site and are on hand for advice on local walks and routes. Bed and breakfast accommodation is also offered for anyone travelling without a caravan or tent of their own. Being adults-only, it suits couples and retired travellers looking for a calmer alternative to family-oriented sites closer to the coast.
Woodbridge, with its riverside quay, antique shops and the Suffolk Punch Trust, is about ten minutes away by car, and the burial mounds at Sutton Hoo are a similarly short drive. Ipswich itself is a straightforward run down the A12, making Moat Barn a workable, if slightly further-flung, base for a stay built around Suffolk's coast and river villages rather than the town centre alone, and its quiet, well-tended pitches have earned it a loyal following among regular touring visitors.
