About Seal Shore Camping and Touring Site
Seal Shore sits right on the beach at Kildonan on Arran's southern tip, with pitches looking out across the Firth of Clyde to Pladda lighthouse and the distinctive outline of Ailsa Craig. The site takes tents, touring caravans and motorhomes, and its position away from the island's main road makes it one of the quieter bases on Arran despite being only a short drive from Whiting Bay and Lamlash.
Facilities are geared towards a straightforward, well-run touring stay rather than a resort experience: hook-up pitches, a shower and toilet block, and a small on-site shop for essentials, all within a short walk of the Kildonan Hotel for meals. The beach itself is the site's biggest draw, with grey seals regularly hauled out on the rocks just offshore and good odds of spotting dolphins or a basking shark further out in summer.
Dogs are welcome, which suits the many walkers who come to Arran for the Coastal Way and want a base close to its southern stretches, and the site's low-key character makes it popular with returning visitors year after year. Its position on the quieter south coast, away from the main ferry-side bustle of Brodick, is part of the appeal for campers after a slower pace.
