About South Islay Motorhome Park
South Islay Motorhome Park is a small, purpose-built stop for touring caravans and motorhomes on the edge of Port Ellen, run by the local South Islay Development Trust between the village filling station and Ramsay Hall. It was created to give visitors arriving by camper van a straightforward, well-serviced place to stay within walking distance of the ferry terminal and the village's shops, pubs and distillery path.
The park offers twelve electric hook-up points on a hardstanding surface, along with a shared toilet, shower and laundry block, making it a practical base rather than a scenic one, though views open out over Port Ellen's bay towards the Oa peninsula. Chemical toilet and grey water disposal is available at the nearby filling station. Pitch fees are charged per night for two adults, with a small additional charge for extra guests, and booking through the site's own online system is recommended in the busier summer months.
From the park it is a level, five-minute walk into Port Ellen itself, and the start of the Three Distilleries Pathway to Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg is just beyond the village. The Big Strand beach and the clifftop walks of the Oa peninsula are both a short drive away, and the ferry terminal for Kennacraig is close enough to walk to with luggage on departure day.
