Kirkfield Caravan Park is a small, straightforward touring site in the village of Town Yetholm, at the northern end of the Pennine Way and around seven miles from Kelso on the edge of the Cheviot Hills. The village sits just a mile and a half from the English border, and the park's rural setting among quiet lanes and hill farms makes it a popular stopover for walkers finishing or starting the Pennine Way, as well as anyone touring the Scottish Borders by caravan or motorhome.
The site holds 26 pitches on hard standing or grass, with electric hookup available on all but a handful of them, and a small toilet block providing separate ladies' and gents' showers along with wash basins and a dishwashing area. Free wifi is available throughout the park, and dogs are welcome at no extra charge, though owners are asked to keep them on a lead around the livestock in neighbouring fields. There is no on-site shop, though Town Yetholm's high street, a short walk away, has a Calor Gas dealer and basic local amenities.
Open from April to the end of October, Kirkfield suits visitors after a quiet, no-frills touring base rather than a facilities-led holiday park, with the Cheviot Hills, the Halterburn valley and the start of the Pennine Way all within walking distance of the gate. Kelso, with its shops, restaurants and Floors Castle, is a short and pleasant drive away, making the park a workable base for day trips into town as well as walking in the hills.
