Castlerigg Hall sits on a hillside a mile and a half south-east of Keswick, close to the Castlerigg Stone Circle, in a position that takes in Derwentwater, Skiddaw and the Newlands fells from many of its pitches. It is a long-established, family-run park that has grown over the years to offer touring pitches, tent camping, static caravans and a handful of glamping pods and safari tents, giving it a broader range of accommodation than most sites in the immediate area.
Facilities are well kept and include modern heated shower and toilet blocks, a small shop selling essentials and local produce, a laundry, and free wifi across parts of the site. Electric hook-up is available on the majority of touring and camping pitches, and the park operates an adults-only touring field alongside family areas for those wanting a quieter stay. A footpath from the site leads directly down into Keswick, roughly a 25 to 30 minute walk, or it is a short drive into town for shops, pubs and the lake.
Dogs are welcome throughout most of the park, and the site is open for a long season running from spring through to early winter, making it a practical base for both peak-season family camping and quieter shoulder-season walking trips. Its elevated position means some exposure to wind and weather, but also some of the best sunset views over Derwentwater and the western fells of any site near Keswick.
