Lyzzick Hall Hotel

On the slopes of Skiddaw, 2 miles north of Keswick · Hotel

A family-run country hotel on the flank of Skiddaw with landscaped gardens, mountain views and a restaurant built around local, seasonal produce.

About Lyzzick Hall Hotel

Lyzzick Hall has been run by the same family since the 1980s, and it shows in the settled, unhurried way the hotel operates. Set on the lower slopes of Skiddaw two miles north of Keswick, the house looks south across its own gardens towards Derwentwater and the central fells, a view most guests end up watching from the lounge or the terrace at some point during their stay.

The 25 bedrooms range from straightforward classic doubles to larger deluxe rooms with garden or mountain views, and the hotel keeps an indoor pool and sauna, unusual for a property of this size in the Lakes. The Covey restaurant serves a seasonal menu built on Cumbrian produce, with a shorter bar menu available for a simpler evening after a day on the fells.

Being just outside Keswick rather than in the middle of it, Lyzzick Hall suits guests who want quiet nights and a proper garden but don't mind a short drive or a fifteen-minute walk along the old railway path into town for dinner or the shops.
