Abbey Grange Campsite sits at the front of the Abbey Grange Hotel, about two miles from Llangollen town centre and half a mile below the summit of the Horseshoe Pass, with the site looking straight out across the Vale of Llangollen towards the Berwyn hills. It is a genuinely scenic spot for a touring site, with the valley opening out below and the Eglwyseg escarpment rising behind, and it makes a good base for anyone planning to drive or cycle the Horseshoe Pass itself.
The site takes both touring caravans and tents, with pitches set out on open ground in front of the hotel building, and dogs are welcomed, making it a popular choice for families and walkers travelling with pets. Its position close to Valle Crucis Abbey and the start of several hill paths up towards Dinas Brân and the escarpment means many guests spend their days on foot before returning to the hotel bar for an evening meal without needing to drive anywhere.
Llangollen town itself, with its shops, railway station and riverside restaurants, is a short and manageable drive or a longer walk down the valley, making Abbey Grange a workable base for visitors who want quiet, elevated surroundings at night but easy access to the town's attractions during the day. The site's proximity to the Horseshoe Pass also makes it popular with cyclists and motorcyclists drawn to one of North Wales's best-known mountain roads.
