About Milarrochy Bay Camping and Caravanning Club Site
Milarrochy Bay sits on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond a couple of miles north of Balmaha, on the quiet minor road that runs out to Rowardennan and then stops. The site occupies a gently sloping field between the road and the water, and the pitches at the lower end look straight across the loch to the western hills. A shingle beach runs along the site frontage, shallow enough for paddling and ideal for launching a kayak or paddleboard first thing in the morning before the water is disturbed.
As a Camping and Caravanning Club site it is run to a consistent standard, with a warden on site, marked pitches for tents, touring caravans and motorhomes, hardstandings, electric hook-ups on many pitches and a well-kept toilet and shower block. There is a small shop for basics and gas, chemical disposal and laundry facilities. Non-members are welcome, though members pay less. Dogs are allowed and there is plenty of space to walk them along the lochshore.
The location is the real draw for walkers. Conic Hill starts a short walk down the road at Balmaha, the ferry to Inchcailloch runs from the same village, and the West Highland Way passes directly along the shore. Rowardennan and the main path up Ben Lomond are about four miles further north. Balmaha has a pub, a coffee shop and a village store, so you are not far from a hot meal. The site opens seasonally, generally from spring to late October, and summer weekends need booking well in advance.
