Cameron House on Loch Lomond

Loch shore near Balloch, West Dunbartonshire · Hotel

Five-star baronial resort on the southern shore with a spa, two golf courses and its own marina, thirty minutes from Glasgow.

About Cameron House on Loch Lomond

Cameron House occupies a Victorian baronial mansion on the south-western shore of Loch Lomond, set in extensive grounds where the River Leven leaves the loch. It is the best known luxury address in the national park and, following a major restoration, one of the most comprehensively equipped, with a spa, swimming pools, a leisure club, a marina and two golf courses including the clifftop Carrick.

Rooms range from classic doubles in the original house to suites with loch views, and the resort also operates separate lodge accommodation in the grounds for families and groups. Dining runs from relaxed all-day options to more ambitious cooking, and the hotel runs its own seaplane and boat trips from the jetty. In 2025 it was voted among the leading resorts in Europe in the Conde Nast Traveller UK Readers' Choice Awards.

It suits couples wanting a treat, golfers, and families who want a swimming pool and organised activities on tap rather than a rustic Highland experience. Balloch village and railway station are a few minutes away by car, and Glasgow is around half an hour, which makes it a practical choice for a short break as well as a longer stay.
