Quex Park Caravan and Camping sits within the grounds of the Quex House estate near Birchington-on-Sea, a few miles west of Margate on the Isle of Thanet. The touring park occupies part of the wooded parkland surrounding the Georgian house, giving pitches a sheltered, tree-lined feel that is unusual for this stretch of the exposed Kent coast, while still being a short drive from the sandy beaches at Birchington, Margate and Westgate-on-Sea.
The site takes tents, touring caravans and motorhomes on grass and hardstanding pitches, with electric hook-up available across much of the park. Facilities are geared towards families and longer stays, including modern shower and toilet blocks, a laundry, and a small on-site shop for essentials, so guests do not need to drive into Birchington for every basic. Dogs are welcome on most pitches, making it a popular choice for owners touring the Kent coast with a pet in tow.
Beyond the pitches, the wider Quex Park estate adds an unusual amount to do without leaving the grounds, including woodland walks, a walled garden and the Powell-Cotton Museum in the house itself. It makes a good base for a longer Thanet stay, splitting time between the beaches of Margate and Broadstairs and the quieter pleasures of the estate parkland, and the park typically operates from spring through to early autumn. The wooded setting also gives welcome shelter on the blustery days that occasionally sweep in off the estuary, something more exposed seafront sites cannot offer, and the estate's own footpaths make an easy morning walk before heading out to the coast.
