The Marlborough
High Street, central Marlborough · Inn
A Grade II listed 15th-century inn on the High Street with five individually designed boutique rooms and a seasonal British restaurant.
About The Marlborough
The Marlborough occupies a Grade II listed building at 90 High Street, its timber frame and low ceilings dating back some five centuries, though the rooms behind the old walls have been fully modernised. Five individually designed boutique rooms include a four-poster suite and two king suites with Italian marble bathrooms and underfloor heating, alongside two quieter doubles and a family suite with a sofa bed.
Downstairs, the restaurant and bar serve seasonal British food built around local Wiltshire produce, with the pub side of the building keeping its own separate identity as a High Street local rather than a purely hotel-facing dining room. The combination of a working bar and boutique rooms above gives the inn a livelier atmosphere than a purely residential hotel.
Its High Street position puts every shop, cafe and the town's other restaurants within a couple of minutes' walk, and it makes a comfortable, characterful base for exploring Savernake Forest, the Marlborough Downs and the Avebury monuments a short drive to the west.
