Woodfire at Westerlands
West Sussex
Fire-cooked gastro camping in Graffham, four miles from Midhurst
About Woodfire at Westerlands
Woodfire at Westerlands occupies a former stud farm near Graffham, around four miles from Midhurst, and pairs camping with a food offer built entirely around open-fire cooking. Grass pitches take standard tents, with a smaller number of spaces for campervans up to seven metres, and a handful of pre-pitched canvas tents sleeping up to six for anyone who would rather not bring their own gear.
Facilities are geared towards a comfortable but unplugged stay: hot showers in roomy cubicles, a covered washing-up area, compost toilets, and firewood and firepits available to hire for cooking or simply sitting out under the Downs at night. There is no WiFi and no electric hookup on pitches, though EV charging is available for an additional fee, and dogs are welcome on the grass pitches.
The site's chef-led food offer is as much a reason to visit as the camping itself, with meals cooked over fire available through the stay, and a well-stocked village shop and four pubs within walking distance for anyone who wants to eat out instead. Open from Easter through September on weekends and school holidays, it suits a short, sociable break rather than a long touring stay, and beaches on the Sussex coast are twenty to forty minutes away by car.
