About Kilbroney Caravan Park
Kilbroney Caravan Park sits inside Kilbroney Park at Rostrevor, on the southwestern edge of the Mourne Mountains above Carlingford Lough, and gives a coastal alternative to the sites closer to Newcastle. The park itself rises from oak woodland along the Kilbroney River up to Cloughmore Stone, the huge granite boulder overlooking the lough, and the campsite forms part of the same council-run parkland, with waymarked trails leading straight from the pitches.
The park offers a larger number of serviced pitches for caravans and motorhomes alongside a smaller area of unserviced tent pitches, and facilities run to a café, laundry room and well-kept toilet and shower blocks, a step up in convenience from some of the more basic hill-country sites elsewhere in the Mournes. Electric hookups are available on the serviced pitches, and the mix of open ground and mature woodland gives some shelter compared with more exposed touring options.
Rostrevor village, a short walk or drive away, has shops, pubs and cafés, and Warrenpoint is a few minutes further by car, giving campers here more evening options within easy reach than the more remote mountain campsites provide. The park also makes a natural base for the Cloughmore Stone walk and onward routes into the Mournes' western hills, as well as for exploring Carlingford Lough and the villages along its northern shore.
