Built in 1897 to bring visitors off the newly arrived railway, the Slieve Donard Resort and Marina occupies the most striking position of any hotel in the Mournes, standing on Newcastle's seafront with Slieve Donard rising immediately behind it. The hotel now operates under the Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts brand and pairs its period exterior with a spa, marina and several restaurants and bars, including its own take on the traditional Percy French pub.
