The Whistledown has been run by the same family for more than three decades on the Warrenpoint seafront, looking out across Carlingford Lough towards the Cooley Mountains, with the western Mournes rising behind the town. Its position gives a different outlook from hotels in Newcastle, trading direct mountain access for a quieter lough-side setting.
The hotel runs two restaurants, Finn's and the Whistledown Bistro, and a beer garden that has been ranked among the best in Northern Ireland, making it as much a destination for a meal or a drink as for an overnight stay.
Its 21 en-suite rooms include family and triple options alongside deluxe rooms looking directly over the lough, and the hotel is a short drive from Rostrevor and Kilbroney Park, as well as from Newry.
