About Slieve Donard
Built in the 1890s for the Belfast and County Down Railway, the Slieve Donard occupies the most prominent position in Newcastle: a long red sandstone facade set back from a private stretch of beach, with formal gardens running towards the dunes and Slieve Donard itself rising directly behind. Under the Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts group, the hotel has been refreshed while keeping its period character, from the wood-panelled public rooms to the grand staircase.
Facilities include a spa and leisure club, multiple restaurants and bars, and direct access to Royal County Down Golf Club next door, one of the most highly rated links courses in the world. Function rooms and a ballroom make it a long-standing choice for weddings and events in County Down.
