Llys Meddyg occupies a Grade II listed Georgian coaching house on East Street, in the heart of Newport, and combines a well-regarded restaurant with nine bedrooms above and behind it. The building's coaching-inn origins are still visible in its thick stone walls and walled garden, now used to grow produce for the kitchen.

Rooms are individually decorated rather than uniform, with a mix of log fires, roll-top baths and garden views, and each has a king-size bed, down duvet and Welsh wool blankets. Free on-site parking is unusual for a town-centre property in Newport and is a practical advantage for anyone arriving by car.

The restaurant downstairs focuses on seasonal, locally sourced cooking, drawing on the walled garden and Pembrokeshire's farms and coastline, with a cellar bar for a quieter drink. It is a short, level walk from the shops, galleries and pubs along the rest of East Street and Market Street.
