Chatton Park House

Chatton, near Alnwick · Guest House

An adults-only five-star guest house in a Georgian country house set in four acres near Chatton, between Alnwick and the coast.

About Chatton Park House

Chatton Park House is a Georgian country house standing in four acres of grounds outside the village of Chatton, inland from Bamburgh and north of Alnwick. It is run as an adults-only, five-star guest house, which keeps the atmosphere calm and makes it a good choice for couples who want somewhere quiet rather than a busy family hotel. It has won awards for guest accommodation more than once.

Rooms are in the main house, generously sized with high ceilings and long views over the surrounding farmland towards the Cheviots. Beds are large, bathrooms are properly appointed, and the decoration is restrained country-house rather than heavily themed. There is also the Lodge, a separate one-bedroom detached property in the grounds for guests who want more independence and their own sitting room and kitchen.

Breakfast is included and made with local produce, served in the dining room looking out over the garden. There is a guest sitting room with a fire, complimentary Wi-Fi throughout, ample free parking and electric vehicle charging points, which are still not common at properties of this size. Dinner is not served, but there are pubs in Chatton and Wooler and a good spread of restaurants in Alnwick and along the coast.

The setting is the main reason to come: it is properly rural, dark at night, and within twenty to thirty minutes of Bamburgh, Seahouses, Holy Island, Alnwick and the Cheviot hills for walking. It suits couples on a touring break, walkers who want comfort at the end of the day, and anyone drawn to the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park. With a small number of rooms, advance booking is advisable.
