Riverside touring site on Martineau Lane, walking distance from Norwich centre
About Norwich Camping & Caravanning Club Site
This long-established touring site sits beside the River Yare on Martineau Lane, close to Norwich's inner ring road and barely a mile and a half from the cathedral and market. It is one of the few campsites in England where you can pitch a tent or caravan and be inside a historic city centre on foot within twenty to thirty minutes, or by bike considerably faster along the riverside path.
The site itself is unpretentious and well run, laid out over level grass pitches with a mix of hardstanding and grass for tourers, alongside space for tents. Facilities are geared towards touring rather than entertainment - clean, modern shower and toilet blocks, an on-site laundry, and electric hook-up on the majority of pitches - which suits couples and families using Norwich as a base rather than looking for an activity-led holiday.
Its position makes it equally useful as a stopover for members touring East Anglia and as a base for a short city break without the cost of a hotel. The Norfolk Broads and the coast are both within easy driving distance, and the site accepts non-members at a slightly higher rate, though joining the club works out cheaper for anyone planning more than one or two nights.
